Mountain biking

As I approach middle-age, something about spending hours on my butt making a chain go around and around gets more and more appealing...

Taking the long way to work

Rode my bike in to work for weekend duty against a strong headwind, adding another 20 miles by taking route 32 all the way up to the Broad street bridge, then heading east from there up Northern BLVD to an unnamed road (I meant to take Plank road but turned wrong) to route 142, coming out on Route 7 a couple miles south of 278. North to 278, across there and then back to Eagles Mills on Route 2. At Eagles Mills I took Garfield road (beutiful road) to 355, then 355 to Spring ave and to Emma Willard with time to spare. 46 miles altogether. Not my best ride, I was sore the next day and in some pain near the end, but it's a start.
In Albany I lost a water bottle at the bottom of Madison ave. I was going 30 mph at the bottom of the hill only to discover that the crosswalks had been cut out and there was a 1" deep pit at both ends of the intersection. I jumped the first one, but hit the 2nd one hard with the rear wheel sending the water bottle flying.
